Curaçao is one of the most colorful and vibrant islands in the Caribbean. It’s a Dutch Caribbean island that blends European charm with Caribbean warmth.
From its white-sand beaches to rocky coves, snorkeling with sea turtles, exploring hidden caves, wandering through Willemstad’s colorful streets, hiking the island’s tallest peak, and sailing to a remote island, Curaçao is the ultimate Caribbean destination.
My Curaçao itinerary is perfect for both couples and families exploring the island for 5-7 days. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion (like we did for our 10th anniversary) or simply craving a Caribbean escape filled with adventure and relaxation, this Curaçao itinerary has you covered.
It includes everything you need to know to plan an epic vacation in Curaçao. From daily activities to the best beaches, local restaurants, hotel recommendations, and yes, blue curaçao—this guide has it all.
Things to Know About Curaçao

Currency:
The official currency is the Netherlands Antillean guilder (ANG), but U.S. dollars are widely accepted. Bring both cash and a credit card with no foreign transaction fees, as many places are card-only.
Languages:
You’ll hear a mix of Papiamentu, Dutch, Spanish, and English. Most locals are multilingual and friendly to English speakers.
Driving:
Renting a car is the easiest way to explore the island. Most gas stations are cash only, and one tank should last for a week (around $60 USD). Make sure you download Google Maps, so you can always navigate the island while offline.
Beaches:
Most beaches are free to enter, though a few charge a small entry fee. Umbrellas and loungers cost a few dollars, and you’ll find snack huts, bars, and restaurants at many beaches.
What to Pack:
Reef-safe sunscreen, snorkel mask (or rent one locally), water shoes, insect repellent, daypack, swimsuits, casual beachwear, and a few nice outfits for special dinners.
Best Time to Visit Curaçao
One of the best things about Curaçao is that it’s outside the hurricane belt, making it a great Caribbean destination to visit year-round. The weather is warm and sunny almost every day, with temperatures averaging in the mid-80s°F (around 29°C).
The busiest travel season runs from December through April, when visitors from colder climates flock to the island for winter sun. If you prefer fewer crowds and slightly lower prices, visit during the shoulder months of May to November.
Where to Stay in Curaçao

While Curaçao has its share of beautiful all-inclusive resorts, this isn’t the kind of island meant for unlimited cocktails by the pool. The real adventure begins when you step outside to explore the colorful neighborhoods, hidden beaches, and delicious local cuisine.
We stayed at the Renaissance Wind Creek Curaçao Resort for six nights and absolutely loved it. The location couldn’t be better. It’s right in the heart of Willemstad at the historic Rif Fort, just a five-minute walk from the famous floating bridge and pastel-colored waterfront.
The staff are incredibly welcoming, the rooms are spacious and modern with a touch of island luxury, and the atmosphere is relaxing yet lively. Our favorite feature is the private, zero-depth saltwater lagoon with its own sandy beach—perfect for a peaceful afternoon dip after a fun-filled day exploring the island.
Here are a few other great options depending on your travel style:
- Baoase Luxury Resort – A stunning luxury and award-winning boutique resort for those looking to splurge on romance and privacy. Stay in a private villa and enjoy world-class amenities in a Balinese-style paradise.
- Avila Beach Hotel – One of Curaçao’s most beloved beachfront properties with calm swimming coves, private beaches, beachside dining, and a lush, tropical atmosphere.
- LionsDive Beach Resort – A family-friendly resort with direct access to Mambo Beach Boulevard and within walking distance of popular attractions like the Curaçao Sea Aquarium and Dolphin Academy. It’s the perfect spot for families who want plenty of activities nearby and easy access to one of the island’s liveliest beaches.
Best Way to Get Around Curaçao

A car is essential for exploring Curaçao. The island is full of hidden beaches, scenic viewpoints, and local gems that are impossible to reach without your own wheels.
We rented from D&D Car Rental and had the smoothest car rental experience ever! From pick-up to drop-off, everything was effortless.
While rental counters at the airport are convenient, they often come with long waits and extra fees. D&D Car Rental is just two minutes from the airport, offers affordable prices, includes CDW insurance, and provides a shuttle service that quickly takes you to the office, allowing you to start exploring the island right away.
The Ultimate Curaçao Itinerary for 5 – 7 Days

Curaçao offers the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation. You can see many of the island’s highlights in five days, while six days lets you slow down and enjoy a few beach days.
A week in Curaçao is the ideal amount of time to truly experience everything the island has to offer, especially when you factor in a travel day on either end.
I highly recommend flying into Curaçao on a Tuesday or Wednesday. Not only are those days typically the least expensive for flights, but this will also allow you to enjoy Punda Vibes on Thursday night and special local dining events on Friday night.
With that in mind, this itinerary begins on a Wednesday and includes tours and dining experiences based on their schedules at the time of writing. I’ve also included places to eat throughout the itinerary based on our personal experiences.
In this guide, I provide a detailed 7-day Curaçao itinerary, followed by a 5 and 6-day overview highlighting the best days from the full itinerary.
7 Days in Curaçao

With 7 days in Curaçao, you’ll have plenty of time to experience the island’s best highlights without feeling rushed. Hike through rugged national parks, wander the colorful streets of Willemstad, snorkel vibrant reefs, sail to Klein Curaçao, and still have time to unwind on some of the Caribbean’s most beautiful beaches.
Day 1 — Arrive in Curaçao and Relax
Welcome to Curaçao! After landing, pick up your rental car at D&D Car Rental. Head to your hotel, take the rest of the day to unpack, unwind, and enjoy your first taste of the Caribbean breeze.
After a travel day, keep things easy by relaxing at your hotel’s pool or private beach. You can stay in for dinner, but I highly recommend venturing into town for a fun tapas dining experience at Kome.
Tapas Night
In Papiamentu, Kome means “eat,” and that’s precisely what you’ll want to do here. Kome is a modern, chef-driven restaurant, known for its creative Caribbean-inspired dishes and warm hospitality.
On Wednesday nights, they host a special tapas dining experience, which is the perfect way to ease into island life. Order a few small plates to share, sip on a tropical cocktail, and settle in for a flavorful first night in Curaçao.
Must order: Mushroom Toast, Chicken & Waffles, Pickled Vegetables, and Truffle Mac n Cheese.
Day 2 – Flamingos, Blow Holes, and a West Coast Beach Day
Ease into your first full day in Curaçao with peaceful wildlife, dramatic coastal scenery, and some beach hopping. Today is all about exploring the island’s western side, which offers a balance of nature, adventure, and beautiful beaches.
Pro Tip
You will want to start driving around 7:30 am to catch the flamingos when they are most active and to avoid high temperatures at Shete Boka National Park. Don’t forget your towel for the beaches, as you will be away from your hotel all day long.
Watch a Flock of Flamingos

A flock of pink flamingos wades gracefully in the shallow salt flats near Sint Willibrordus. The flamingo sanctuary is en route to Shete Boka National Park, so it’s an easy stop in your Curaçao itinerary to watch the flamingos early in the morning.
The viewing area is easy to spot along the roadside, with a small parking area nearby. Bring your camera and enjoy a quiet few minutes at the viewing platform, watching the flamingos move through the shallow lagoon as they search for their breakfast.
Get Blown Away

Continue north to Shete Boka National Park (which opens at 9 a.m.), where Curaçao’s wild northern coastline puts on an incredible show with massive waves crashing against jagged limestone cliffs.
You can either hike a trail (about 2-3 hours) to every point of interest or drive to each viewpoint and take short walks from the parking areas. I recommend visiting every point of interest, but if you are short on time, make sure to at least add Boka Pistol and Boka Tabla Cavern to your Curaçao itinerary.
Boka Pistol is one of the coolest blowholes you will ever see. Waves rush through a narrow rocky channel and erupt skyward with a thunderous boom. It’s like nature’s version of fireworks!
Boka Tabla is the park’s most popular inlet, and it’s easy to see why. From the upper platform, you can watch waves explode against the cliffs, but the real magic is down below. Follow a short path into a sea cave where you can watch waves crash right in front of you, leaving you with cool mist on your skin.
Spend the Afternoon Beach Hopping
If time allows, you can visit all three beaches or slow down your pace and choose two beaches to enjoy.

Playa Lagun – A tucked-away cove with a picture-perfect restaurant perched above the water. It’s the ideal spot for a leisurely lunch with a view. Enjoy a delicious meal with Blue Curaçao frozen cocktails before walking down to the beach for some of the best snorkeling on the island—or skip the swim and venture to the next stop.

Playa Jeremi – A quiet beach to slow down and wander the shoreline in search of sea glass. The bits of green and turquoise glinting in the sun make for a simple little treasure hunt that both kids and couples love.

Grote Knip (Kenepa Grandi) – End your day at one of the most beautiful beaches in Curaçao. The panoramic view from the parking area alone is worth the stop. Relax on a lounger under an umbrella (available for a small fee), and dive into the crystal-clear turquoise water, where you’ll often spot schools of colorful fish swimming by.
Experience Punda Vibes

On Thursday nights, the colorful streets of Willemstad come alive for Punda Vibes—a weekly street celebration that showcases the best of Curaçao’s culture, art, and community.
The atmosphere throughout the evening is fun, safe, and welcoming. Perfect for both families and couples. It’s the ultimate way to experience the island spirit after dark that makes Curaçao so special.
Stroll through streets as music fills the air and performers, artists, and food vendors line the squares. You’ll find everything from live bands and steel drums to pop-up markets selling local jewelry and handmade souvenirs. Don’t miss the fireworks show around 8:00–8:15 p.m. that lights up the harbor—it’s the highlight of the night!
For the best experience, grab dinner at Cascada Rooftop Bar + Kitchen. This stylish open-air restaurant and bar offers panoramic views of the city and harbor, an infinity pool, and live music. It’s the perfect spot to watch the fireworks while enjoying great food, cocktails, and the festive energy of Punda Vibes.
Day 3 — Tours and Tastes of Curaçao
Today is all about exploring Curaçao beyond the beaches—from a morning filled with local art and hands-on tours to an afternoon wandering the colorful streets of Willemstad.
A Morning Bliss with Coffee and Cake

Start your day at Number 10, one of Curaçao’s most beloved brunch spots known for its incredible bakery and lush garden patio. Enjoy great coffee, freshly baked cakes, and hearty breakfast plates on the shaded terrace.
Families will appreciate the small playground tucked in the back, making it easy for everyone to relax while you enjoy your meal.
We loved it here so much that we came twice during our 7 days in Curaçao. Needless to say, Number 10 is the perfect place for everyone to start their day of exploring.
Get Lost in a Labyrinth of Thorns

Right next door to Number 10 is the Cathedral Labyrinth of Thorns. This unique outdoor art installation, made entirely of thorn bushes, feels both peaceful and a little mysterious. Wander through the pathways, admiring the craftsmanship and the art pieces woven into the walls.
Pro Tip
The labyrinth opens at 9 a.m., giving you just enough time to visit before your 10 a.m. tour at the Aloe Vera Farm, which is only a 10-minute drive away.
Tour the Aloe Vera Farm

Learn how aloe is grown, harvested, and turned into natural skincare products at the Aloe Vera Farm Curaçao. This short but fascinating tour is a great stop for all ages, offering a closer look at one of the island’s most versatile plants.
If you choose to visit on the weekend, you can extend your visit with a workshop where you’ll make your own aloe vera spray—a fun, hands-on souvenir to take home.
Taste the Iconic Blue Curaçao

Head to the Landhuis Chobolobo Distillery, home of the original Blue Curaçao liqueur. Go on a guided tour to learn how this world-famous drink is made from the bitter Laraha orange that grows only on Curaçao.
After the tour, stop by the bar to try a signature Blue Curaçao cocktail or sample one of the other Curaçao liqueurs. If you’re feeling creative, join a cocktail-making workshop and learn how to mix your own island-inspired drink.
Eat Like a Local
For lunch, head to Plasa Bieu (also known as the Old Market) in Willemstad. It’s one of the best places to taste authentic local cuisine. Inside the food hall, local vendors cook traditional dishes right in front of you, filling the space with incredible aromas and a lively, communal energy.
Most vendors serve similar local favorites such as stewed goat, stewed beef, fresh snapper, or even iguana soup, all served with rice, beans, and plantains. It’s casual, flavorful, and a must for anyone wanting an authentic taste of Curaçao.
Must order: Stewed Goat with funchi, rice, beans, and plantains
Walk Across the Floating Bridge and Wander the Colorful Streets

Spend the afternoon exploring Willemstad, Curaçao’s vibrant capital and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Start on the Punda side, wandering through narrow streets filled with local boutiques, souvenir shops, and art galleries. Don’t miss the Chi Chi dolls—hand-painted sculptures that celebrate the strong, loving chichi “eldest sister” of the Caribbean.
As you explore, you’ll find bright murals and street art around every corner, adding even more color to the city’s colonial architecture. It’s easy to spend a few hours here shopping, taking photos, and soaking in the charm of downtown Willemstad.

Finish your afternoon crossing the Queen Emma Bridge—a floating pedestrian bridge that gently sways as boats pass through the harbor. It connects the two main districts, Punda and Otrobanda, offering some of the best views of the city’s famous pastel-colored waterfront.
Eat with Your Hands

Equus is not your typical restaurant. It’s a little off the beaten path and offers one of the most unique dining experiences on the island. Open only on Friday nights, this local favorite serves one thing and does it perfectly—grilled kebabs of steak, chicken, shrimp, and vegetables cooked over an open flame.
You’ll find no menus or silverware here, just a rustic, open-air setting where the smell of barbecue fills the air and everyone gathers around picnic tables under the stars. Roll up your sleeves and get ready to feast with your hands at one of the most laid-back and memorable dining spots on the island.
Must order: one kebab of everything!
Day 4 — Peaks, Turtles, and Hidden Caves
Now that we are halfway through the Curaçao itinerary, let’s kick things up a notch! Start with a morning hike to Curaçao’s highest point before cooling off alongside sea turtles and exploring the island’s secret underwater world. It’s the perfect mix of adventure on land and sea.
Hike the Tallest Peak

Set your alarm early and head to Christoffel National Park for a 7 a.m. (or earlier) hike. The 1.7 out-and-back trail to the summit is challenging but totally worth it.
After a bit of rock scrambling near the top, you’ll be rewarded with sweeping views of Curaçao’s rugged coastline and lush green hills. Bring plenty of water, a hat, and a few snacks to enjoy while you take in the view from the highest point on the island.
Pro Tip
Don’t make the same mistake we did. If you want to start your hike by 7 a.m., you need to arrive around 6:30 a.m. because it takes time to check in at the visitor center. Then you drive to a separate parking area where the trail begins. The earlier you start, the cooler the temperatures will be, making the climb much easier.
Swim with Turtles at Playa Grandi

After your hike, cool off at Playa Grandi, a small beach famous for its local fishermen and abundant sea turtles. Watch as the fishermen clean their catch, which supplies many restaurants across the island and attracts sea turtles close to shore.
Grab your snorkel gear and dive in for an up-close encounter with the turtles and colorful tropical fish. I’ve snorkeled in Akumal, Mexico, famously known as “the place of turtles,” and swimming here easily tops any sea turtle snorkel experience I’ve had.
Not feeling like swimming? No worries! You can still enjoy great views of the sea turtles from the pier while taking in the lively beach scene.
Pro Tip
If you are skipping the hike, plan to arrive at Playa Grandi at 9 a.m., when the fishermen begin cleaning their fish and before the crowds arrive for a surreal snorkel experience with the sea turtles.
Lunch on the Edge

Stop for lunch at Playa Forti Restaurant, perched right above the turquoise water with sweeping cliffside views. The restaurant is popular for locals and tourists for its fresh seafood, local cuisine, panoramic views, and cliff jumping!
While we skipped the cliff jumping ourselves, we couldn’t resist watching others take the plunge from the cliffs below. It’s surprisingly entertaining and adds a little excitement to your meal.
Must order: Creamy Seafood Soup, Caribbean Fish Platter, Whole Red Snapper, and Keshi Yena.
Dive into the Blue Room Cave

Join a snorkel tour with Go West Diving, one of the island’s top-rated excursions. You’ll explore hidden caves, shipwrecks, and the famous Blue Room Cave, where sunlight filters through the water and turns everything a surreal electric blue.
We’ve been to the famous Blue Grotto in Capri, but the Blue Room feels even more magical. It’s truly a hidden gem with natural beauty that perfectly showcases the island’s underwater wonders. The tour is also family-friendly, so even young swimmers can enjoy exploring shipwrecks and caves while seeing parts of Curaçao you can’t reach by car.
Go West Diving also offers diving courses and excursions for both beginners and seasoned divers, making it easy for anyone to experience the island’s underwater world safely and confidently. Needless to say, Go West Diving offers visitors an unforgettable way to experience Curaçao beneath the waves.
Simple Food, Perfect Evening

After a full day of adventure, unwind with dinner at Isabelle’s Off the Beach, a cozy open-air restaurant that perfectly blends island charm with laid-back elegance. After a week of dining at several restaurants, we both agreed this was our favorite. It’s simple food done perfectly, paired with an amazing atmosphere and genuine hospitality.
The menu features a mix of American classics and local Caribbean dishes, from juicy smash burgers to island-style seafood packed with flavor. Pair your meal with a tropical cocktail and enjoy a relaxed, delicious end to an unforgettable day in Curaçao.
Must order: Crab Salad with Garlic Crostini, Red Snapper Fish Filet, and the Signature Smash-Burger
Day 5 – Sweet Mangos to Sandy Shores
After several days of fast-paced adventures, it’s time to slow down with a leisurely morning wandering the lush mango forest. Followed by an afternoon beach hopping between two of the island’s most beautiful beaches. Today is the perfect mix of nature and sandy relaxation.
Walk Through a Mango Forest

Start your morning at Hòfi Mango, a peaceful nature park named after its 300-year-old mango trees. Take a self-guided stroll through the lush estate, or join a guided tour for a more informative experience, learning about Curaçao’s native plants and history.
Wander through the cactus, butterfly, and palm gardens, feel small beneath the towering mango forest, and climb the “stairway to heaven” for sweeping views of the island. Don’t miss the on-site distillery where you can sample their house-made rums (the cream rum was my personal favorite!), and swing through the tree canopies on their zip line (coming soon).
After the tour, enjoy breakfast at the nature park’s open-air restaurant. The menu features fresh tropical dishes and juices made with mangoes sourced from the forest, along with locally inspired favorites that perfectly capture the island’s flavors.
Must order: Repa di Pampuna (traditional pumpkin pancakes)—so good, I ordered two!
Spend the Afternoon Beach Hopping
Spend the next several hours of your day soaking up the sun in the sand at two of these incredible beaches.
Cas Abao Beach – Start at Cas Abao Beach, one of the island’s most beloved beaches. The powdery white sand, calm turquoise water, and easy shore snorkeling make it a dream spot for both families and couples. Grab a smoothie or a cold beer from the beach bar, relax under a palapa, and enjoy a relaxing beach day. Note: There is a small entrance fee, but the palapa and loungers are included.

Playa Porto Marie – Continue your beach day at Playa Porto Marie, a beautiful sandy beach best known for its clear water, great snorkeling, and roaming wild pigs. Yes, wild pigs! Don’t worry, they’re friendly, but be prepared for a quirky surprise when they wander by to say hello while you’re reading or tanning under the sun.
Walk the pier for those Instagram-worthy views, jump off the floating platforms, snorkel at the double reef, or even paint driftwood with a local artist. There are plenty of fun activities to enjoy at Playa Porto Mari. Note: There’s a small entrance fee, but loungers and umbrellas are included.

It’s also an excellent spot for lunch on the beach. The beachside restaurant serves up delicious island comfort food such as burgers, sandwiches, fresh seafood, and their signature Green Egg BBQ specials.
Must order: BBQ pulled pork sandwich or BBQ pulled chicken sandwich
History Meets Flavor

Grand Café ‘Gouverneur De Rouville’ is a local and tourist favorite, celebrating Curaçao’s history and flavor. Set inside a beautifully restored 18th-century building in Otrobanda, the restaurant pairs old-world charm with warm island hospitality.
The menu blends Caribbean flavors with global favorites, offering everything from local specialties to pasta, risotto, and signature dishes from the grill. Whether you sit in the lovely courtyard or on the balcony terrace overlooking the colorful waterfront, the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming.
Must order: Karni Stoba, Caribbean Chicken, and Keshi Yena di Korsou.
Day 6 — Come Sail Away
This is a day trip you do not want to miss on your Curacao itinerary! Trade the road for open water as you sail to a tiny, uninhabited island with turquoise water, powdery white sand, and endless ocean views.
Sail to Klein Curacao

Today’s adventure takes you off the coast and onto the open sea with BlueFinn Charters for an epic day trip to Klein Curaçao—a tiny, uninhabited island about two hours away by catamaran.
Set sail in the late morning and let the ocean breeze wake you up as you stretch out on the trampoline nets up front, but be warned, it’s the “splash zone”! On the way there, you’ll glide over endless turquoise water, watching flying fish dart across the waves until you anchor near the white shoreline of Klein Curaçao.

Once you arrive, you’ll find a picture-perfect island with powdery white sand and crystal-clear water. Spend your time snorkeling among colorful fish (I even spotted a stingray!), exploring the island’s pink lighthouse and weathered shipwrecks, or simply relaxing on the beach with a cold drink in hand.
After a few hours of pure island bliss, the ride back turns into a floating party as you sail at sunset with music playing, people dancing, drinks flowing, and the sun slowly sinking into the sea.
BlueFinn Charters provides everything you need for a carefree day at sea, including snorkel gear, an open bar, and a delicious barbecue lunch served right on board. The only thing you need to bring is sun protection, a towel, motion-sickness meds (even if you don’t think you need them), and a waterproof camera or case.
Pro Tip
BlueFinn Charters only offers the sunset sail to Klein Curaçao on Mondays. They’re not only the best tour operator, but the sunset sail is the perfect option if you want the island to yourself. BlueFinn is the last group on the island, so you’ll enjoy a truly private experience with your cruise crew.
Small Plates, Big Flavor
Soi95 is another one of our favorite dining experiences in Curaçao. This trendy rooftop spot serves up Caribbean dishes with an Asian twist, all designed to share. The menu is built around small plates, perfect for sampling a little bit of everything and passing dishes around the table.
Grab a seat on the rooftop terrace, where the warm Caribbean breeze and city lights set the tone for a relaxed yet elevated evening. Each dish is fresh, flavorful, and beautifully balanced—from seafood with bold sauces to deep-fried butter chicken and inventive cocktails.
It’s the perfect spot to unwind, share a few plates, and soak in Curaçao’s vibrant dining scene.
Must order: Mushroom Ravioli, Deep-Fried Butter Chicken, and Prawns
Day 7 — One Last Dip Before Goodbye

Depending on your flight time, squeeze in one last dose of island magic. Enjoy a slow breakfast by the sea, a final walk through Willemstad’s colorful streets, or a few lazy hours at your hotel’s beach.
Returning your car with D&D Car Rental is quick and seamless. Simply drop it off, and they’ll drive you straight to the airport. The whole process takes about five minutes from start to finish.
Curaçao’s airport is small and easy to navigate, but plan to arrive at least two hours before your flight. If you have a Priority Pass, the lounge is a comfortable spot to unwind with a drink before saying your final bon bini to Curaçao.
5 or 6 Days in Curaçao

Even with five or six days, you can still experience Curaçao’s biggest highlights. Explore Shete Boka National Park, wander the colorful streets of Willemstad, take a snorkeling tour, sail to Klein Curaçao, and still have time to unwind on the island’s stunning beaches.
Here’s a quick overview for a 5 or 6-day Curaçao itinerary. You can follow the days above or mix and match using this guide as a blueprint.
Day 1: Arrive in Curaçao
Day 2: Shete Boka National Park and Beach Hopping
Day 3: Sail to Klein Curaçao
Day 4: Mount Christoffel National Park or Shopping in Willemsted, Beaches, and Blue Room Cave
Day 5: Tastes and Tours of Curaçao or Fly Home
Day 6: Fly Home
Curaçao truly surprised us with its beauty, adventure, and welcoming hospitality. It’s easily one of our favorite Caribbean islands and a trip we’ll remember forever. From rugged coastlines and serene beaches to colorful streets and delicious local dishes, there’s so much to love.
We hope you enjoy this vibrant island as much as we did!
