How to Buy Juventus Tickets as an Outsider – a Guide to an Epic Soccer Event

How to Buy Juventus Tickets as an Outsider – a Guide to an Epic Soccer Event

Whether watching an international soccer game in Italy is on your bucket list (like us), or you are on a weekend getaway to Turin, you must experience a Juventus game! However, for an amazing experience, buying Juventus tickets is not an easy task. As a former collegiate soccer player and lover of the game, going to a soccer game in Italy was one of the best experiences of my life. So if you love soccer too, I highly recommend you go to any Serie A game, specifically the best team in the league, Juventus. Moreover, Juventus has become a new favorite team with their new addition of Ronaldo to their roster.

As briefly stated, buying tickets to a Serie A game or in this case, Juventus, was one of the hardest and most stressful situations I have ever encountered. In the United States, buying tickets for any concert or sports game is a walk in the park. For any non-Italian citizen, buying tickets to a game is difficult. So, I have created this guide to help you buy Juventus tickets with ease.

How to Buy Juventus Tickets

There are four ways to buy Juventus tickets – by being a Juventus member, authorized website, tobacco shops or through a third party. In my experience, I recommend buying Juventus tickets through the authorized/official website, but sometimes the tickets get sold out, so a third party is also a good option.

Buying Juventus Tickets Online

For soccer lovers that are not an Italian citizen, you most likely will not purchase a Juventus membership for one single game. And though you can purchase tickets on the Juventus website, soccer is like breathing to the Italians, so buying Juventus tickets online is extremely difficult. However, if you are not going to a home opening game, a “big” game or rival game, you might get lucky.

Though Juventus tickets go on pre-sale, only the Juventus members are able to purchase the tickets. So with any luck, if there are still tickets available after pre-sale, then you can purchase your tickets. Tickets for each game can be found on the official Juventus website. The website breaks down when people can purchase general sale tickets – typically there is a small window of dates before they close the general sale.  With that said, the first thing you should do is create an online account at Sport Ticketone (Italy’s official sport’s ticket website). Then on the day the tickets go on sale, log onto your account and go through the process of buying your ticket.

Beforehand, people bought their Juventus tickets directly on Juventus’ website. When I purchased my tickets back in the summer of 2016, that was the case. Furthermore, there were complications when purchasing the ticket. I would continually receive a red pop error and even with customer support providing step-by-step instructions, I never had success. So if this is still an issue to non-Italian citizens (because you must add your address), I recommend the other options – a tobacco shop or third-party website.

Buying Juventus Tickets at a Tobacco Shop

An easier option to buy Juventus tickets is by visiting an authorized tobacco shop. You can find the participating tobacco shops on Juventus’ website by clicking “Authorised Lis ticket offices“. If you have the availability to call the tobacco shop, it can save you time by calling ahead to see if they still have Juventus tickets. When you arrive at an authorized shop to buy your tickets, make sure you have cash (euros) on hand because a lot of places in Italy do not accept credit cards.

Buying Juventus Tickets on Viagogo

If all options above fail, do not fret because you can still buy your tickets! Through trial and error myself and then researching another option on how to buy Juventus tickets, I came across a third-party website called, Viagogo. At first, I was discouraged to purchase my tickets via Viagogo because the Juventus website clearly states to only purchase tickets on authorized sales channels i.e. the options listed above. However, I am a very determined person. So I researched further through forums and trusted websites and learned that Viagogo is the equivalent of the United States StubHub or SeatGeek. The entire process of purchasing tickets on Viagogo is unusual compared to the websites we are accustomed to, but Viagogo is legit! Here is a little insight into the process and how you buy your Juventus tickets on Viagogo.

How to Buy Juventus Tickets on Viagogo – Is Viagogo Legit?

Yes, Viagogo is legit. Initially, we felt uneasy about the whole process of purchasing our Juventus tickets on a website we were unfamiliar with. It did not help any either when our tickets never said what section, row or seat we were in.  All our ticket said was “Section: Tribuna Est 1 Laterale” and the price. So, when you see this abnormal process, do not worry, this is the typical process. Furthermore, as a non-Italian citizen, you will want to purchase e-tickets or tickets that can be picked up that do not require scanning an ID.

Once you purchase your tickets, Viagogo will email your confirmation, which includes either the e-ticket itself or the destination to pick up your tickets. For our tickets, we received a hotel name and address. Still not a hundred percent certain Viagogo is legit, we emailed the hotel and they confirmed that Viagogo did have a conference reserved. We finally relaxed when we arrived at the hotel and found Viagogo representatives. When we were greeted by a representative, we provided our information and confirmation (always make sure to bring your ID and passport). Then they asked a simple question, “do you want to see where you are sitting?” Finally, our seats were revealed that we were in section 112, row 7 – 7 ROWS FROM THE FIELD!!!!

So, as you can see, the process is unusual, but definitely worth it.

Our tickets ended up costing us €308. If you are lucky to purchase your tickets on the official website, they are a lot cheaper than if you have to go through Viagogo. However, I admit, the tickets were worth every penny!

Again, if you are buying Juventus tickets (or any tickets) through Viagogo, it is SAFE, but here are bullet points to remember:

  • Only buy tickets that are e-tickets or pick up at the event. Do not purchase tickets that need to be shipped because research shows that sometimes tickets do not arrive by mail until the day of the event!
  • When you see the “cheap” prices be aware that Viagogo adds A LOT of additional fees and charges making the final price almost outrageous.
  • Some tickets do not tell you section or row number, only the name of the area in the stadium, for ex: Section: Tribuna Est 1 Laterale.
  • If you choose tickets to pick up at the event, you will be sent a confirmation email about where and when to pick up your tickets. If you feel uneasy about this, email the listed destination to confirm. Also, make sure to have a from of photo ID on you.

Is Buying Juventus Tickets Worth it?

ABSOLUTELY!!! The atmosphere of a Juventus home game was unreal! We have been to MLB, NBA and NHL games many times and nothing compares to this sporting experience. The atmosphere is very raw and authentic. There are no theatrics, no giant jumbotrons that shows a live feed of the game or even replays. It is just PURE SOCCER! Or should I say, FUTBOL!

As mentioned in the beginning, fans here breathe for soccer. Our seats were not only close to the field, but they were also only two sections away from the opposing team’s section of fans. The opposing fans are not sitting throughout the stadium, they are sitting in an enclosed glass section with guards standing every five feet. Why? Because the fans in Italy are crazy rowdy! When Juventus would score a goal the fans would shout several cuss words with the middle finger to the opposing fans and vice versa. We even saw a young boy do it standing next to us and his dad could not have been more proud. When the game ended, all the Juventus fans had to clear the stadium first before they let the opposing fans exit to prevent riots. Words cannot do this experience and atmosphere justice, so check out this Youtube video to see for yourself!

Experiencing a Home Opening Juventus Game

After the opening sequence of announcing the starting line up, the players and fans stood with their scarves held high as they sang the Juventus theme song with pride. Though we did not know the song, we certainly felt a part of it as we stood and admired the entire stadium’s excitement.

Surprinsgly, every time Juventus would score, the song, ” Chelsea’s Dagger” would play and we would join in jumping on our feet. Then the crowd would go straight into another song, shouting, “Ole ole ole ole, Juve Juve”! We have never felt more alive than during this game, we felt like Italian locals.

The game itself was intense and an evenly match up, which made the experience more enjoyable. Every once in awhile I had to pinch myself if this experience was real. The announcer never had to get the stadium pumping with, “let me hear some noise!” or “clap louder”. The Juventus fans were pumped all on their own because soccer is in their blood.

Watching your favorite team and players play on TV is one thing, but watching them 7 rows from the field is another. Both Adam and I will remember this night for the rest of our lives as it was the best sporting event we have ever experienced. We highly recommend any soccer or sports fan to be able to watch an international game in Europe. Especially if you are visiting Turin, going to a Juventus game will be the highlight of your trip. The experience is unforgettable and remains as one of “our sweetest adventures” of all time.
